1984 PLOT

So this is what I have so far.
The main character Winston Smith is a member of the Party that is ruling over the state of Oceania. The Party rules under the dictatorship of Big Brother. The party has strict rules laid down for each Party member, rules which prohibits free thought, sex, and any expression of individuality. Everywhere he goes, he is being watched by the Party through telescreens which are always left on. Telescreens are a way in which the Police could monitor the actions of the citizens so Winston keeps his back to the telescreen. He finds his illegally purchased diary in the drawer that is hidden from the telescreen and begins to write his criminal thoughts in it. Winston becomes suspicious on one powerful party member named O'Brien. He believes that O'Brien is a secret member of the mysterious, legendary group that works to overthrow the Party.

The diary is such an exciting part of the story. It's strange to think that something so simple as writing in a journal is a full on crime in their society.

I agree with Emily. I think the diary is going to be an exciting part of the book. I'm interested in reading what Winston is thinking.
